GEAR

GEAR

WE AGREE…

A great song comes from the writing and the skill of those involved. From the performers to the engineers.

But good gear certainly helps

LIVE LOUDER

With our selection of microphones we can best capture the richness of your vocal based on frequency range and tonality. We at Little Big Tone understand that not every mic is suited for every vocal. Let one of our audio engineers help you discover your best self. So whether your song needs that extra edge that requires re-amping a guitar through a limited edition vintage stack or maybe some classic tube compression or even cutting edge digital processing, we got you.

ACOUSTIC ENVIRONMENTS
We have purpose built tracking and listening acoustically neutral environments. We ensure that your mixes and masters reflect the true response curve of the song and are not impacted by frequency anomalies that arise from non- purpose built rooms. This ensures that your songs translate predictable across a variety of listening environments and devices.
VINTAGE LIMITED EDITIONS
Nothing can impart vintage character to a sound like the actual tools that were used to make our favourite songs. There is something about the sound of vintage gear that immediately transports the listener to the past. At LBT we have several pieces of vintage and rare collectibles including a Neumann 147 Tube microphone and the ultra rare Marshall 6100 Limited Edition tube  amp.
MODERN & BOUTIQUE CLASSICS
The sound of today needs the tools of today. Preamps from BAE, Rupert Neve Designs and Heritage Audio impart familiar tone with modern flexibility. Compressors from the expanding catalogue of Warm Audio and meticulously hand made pieces from Stam Audio and Vintage Audio.
CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY
Atomic clocking and pristine ADDA conversion by class leading Antelope Audio. Digital processing by Universal Audio, Steven Slate Digital, Solid State Logic, Waves and more. We use bit rates as high as 192k to ensure the very best result for your songs.

ACOUSTIC SPACES

While technology is improving in the music production realm, there has yet to be a convincing algorithmic solution to the issues related to the interplay of sound and the environment. The constructs of a room at one’s house are a nightmare for sound engineers. Just having parallel front and back walls set up preferential resonant frequencies making those appear louder than they actually are; it’s easy to see how just one such issue can affect one’s ability to mix accurately. Now multiply that by all the parallel walls and ceilings in that room. all with different resonances and we begin to see the complexity of the problem. Other problems frequently encountered are reflections, 1st order, 2nd order etc. Besides smearing the sound, they can also set up phase cancellations, creating artificial dips in the perceived frequency spectrum that do not actually exist. These are just 2 of the numerous psychoacoustic phenomena that occur when mixing in a non-purpose built space.   Our rooms were intentionally made to eliminate standing waves and address the issues surrounding pro audio manipulation. They feature decoupled walls, ceilings and floors to maximize sound isolation. Cedar and pine wood dress were used in their construction to achieve a natural sounding environment that is non-resonant but far from overly damped. With non-parallel walls, ceilings and floors, as well as full length slot resonators tuned to each room, we’ve ensured that each space has an even frequency response so that whether it’s tracking, mixing or mastering, what you hear is what is there.
